The first step in creating a lost wax sculpture is to first create a form. This can be done in clay or in any other sculptable medium provided that is usable with plaster and other casting materials.

For my sculpture i used an oil based clay without sulfur so that it's safe for used with silicon and rubber mold systems.

Note: If you choose to do a form in Styrofoam its recommended that you use the lost foam method, as it's much easier and requires less work. If on the other hand you are making your foam out of wax or any other materials that can be eviscerated at 1K Fahrenheit, it is recommended that you skip ahead to the wax chasing and spruing section.
