After you have finished making the mold of your form, remove the original sculpture and make sure all of the originals material is absent from the mold. After this, it's time to create a wax positive of your sculpture. The form that you create in wax will eventually be the form that is also cast in metal. To heat up your wax it is recommended that you use a crock pot or some other self heating container that you don't mind having ruined. It is also recommended that you use micro-crystalline wax as its the best and easiest to work with once you get to the chasing stage. You can use other cheaper forms of wax but the results might not turn out as well. Once your wax has been heated up pour it into your form and let it cure overnight just to be safe.

Note: At this stage you can slush cast the form to make it hollow, but that is not recommended for beginners as the spruing is complex. Also, if you're making your wax positive using a plaster mold to first soak the mold in water, otherwise the wax will bond to the plaster and you'll have to start over.
